Mindful Monday:
Take a step back from whatever you are doing and relax. Sit outside and take in the sights and sounds of your environment, oh, and especially the sun on your face! That is always an energy boost for me! If just for a moment— Breathe. Refresh. Reset.
So many Mondays are just that. Mondays. We start to coil back, usually on Sunday nights, to all the things we’ve got on the horizon of a Monday.
What if we set ourselves up for success for Monday and the entire work-week? What would that look like to you? Here are a couple of ideas that you may find helpful, to bring ease and flow to your week.
Declutter your backpack, work tote or purse. Pull out everything that’s in there. Yeah, even that wayward highlighter, you know the one, your favorite one! Now, separate out what you will not need for next week. (like that sandwich wrapper or loose receipt) Then put back in all the items that will support you for whatever you may have going on. Don’t forget the charger, your planner and fresh snacks. Now doesn’t that feel lighter, knowing you’ve purposefully and intentionally put back all the items that will support you for the week ahead?
Can you get a little (more) organized? Like, meal planning and prepping over the weekend, so that you’ll know exactly what you’ll be having for dinner? You may already keep breakfast and lunch staples in your pantry and fridge, but dinners can sometimes get tricky and even expensive if you decide to do the drive-thru thingy on your way home from work because you are running short on time to cook dinner. I like to meal plan for a couple of reasons. 1.) When you meal plan and list out what you’ll need, you won’t spend on items you may already have in your freezer, pantry, or fridge. You get only what is needed to prep for those meals and hopefully what you’ve put on the shopping list is all that you purchase. 2.) Even if your day is running late, you’ll know what your serving for dinner and won’t have to come up with something on the fly.
Now, really, take a break from your screen during the day. Get outside for some fresh air and sunshine. See if you can start to take at least one break away from the desk/screen for 5-10 minutes. If you’re feeling extra sassy, try for two breaks like this in your day. It can be a game changer and something that you look forward to, in breaking up your day.
Here’s to a great week!
